How to Upgrade iPad Firmwares

iOS as Apple operating system, was released in 2007, which is applied in iPhone and extended to iPad, iPod and Apple TV, while the firmware of iOS is used to denote the fixed, usually rather small, programs and/or data structures that internally control various electronic devices. What we do to upgrade is to upgrade firmwares of iOS.

How to Upgrade iPad Firmwares

1.Check your iPad Version
Tap "Settings" > "General" > "About" on iPad to scroll down to "Version" to get information of your iPad firmware. If it is not the latest version, you can upgrade it as following.

2.Connect to iTunes
Connect your iPad to computer and select "Trust" on your iPad. Then, launch iTunes to select iPad icon on the top side.

3.Download Firmware to Update
Click "Summary" to view your iPad basic situation and a popup will also require you to choose "Download and Update" if your firmware is not the recent version.

4.Upgrade Firmwares with iTunes
You will be asked to press "Continue" to transfer purchased items to iTunes library. Then, the next screen will also require you to choose "Update" to confirm your choice.

Notes: It is safe to back up your iPad data firstly. Otherwise, those important files may fade away.

You may have a problem of what differences between upgrading iPad firmwares and updating iPad operating system are. In some extents, they can be understood as the same.
