How to Restore Old Data to New iPhone with iTunes

Are you planning to purchase the new iOS devices, such as iPhone 6s/6s Plus, iPad Pro, which are officially released on Sept. 9th. However, how to transfer the data from the old iPhone to the new one? Actually, you can back up your old iPhone data with iTunes and restore the old back up to your new iPhone 6s/6s Plus with ease. If you have no idea how, just follow the below steps.

Part 1: Back up Old iPhone Data with iTunes

Solutions on Backing up the Old Data:
I will show you how to back up your iPhone old data with two different ways: One to back up with the help of USB cable; the other is to back up wirelessly over Wi-Fi. Please check the steps below.

1. You can back up iPhone to iTunes via USB cable:
Launch iTunes, connect iPhone to computer and select "Summary" to enter the interface below. Choose "This computer" and "Back Up Now" on the right side.

2. You can also back up your iPhone data wirelessly:
Make sure that your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is running iOS 5 or the later. Then Download iTunes 10.5 or above on your computer and insure that your iDevice and the computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step 1. Set Up Wireless Syncing
Launch the latest version of iTunes on your computer. Connect iPhone to the computer to enable the settings on iTunes if it is the first time you are trying to set up wireless syncing. Tick "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" option and click "Apply" to save the settings.

Step 2. Enable iTunes Wi-Fi Sync on iPhone
Go to "Settings" > "General" > "iTunes Wi-FI Sync" and tap on "Sync Now" on your iPhone as the interface below shows.

With the steps above, you have successfully backed up your iPhone with iTunes. After you complete to back up your iPhone, you can use iPhone Data Recovery to download files on computer and utilize iPhone Transfer to transfer data from computer to iPhone, which works for iPad/iPod/iPhone and transfers almost all data, including contacts, messages, photos and so on. The biggest advantage is that iPhone Transfer can selectively move data which you need. In the next part, I will show you how to restore old data to new iPhone with iTunes.

Part 2: Restore Data from iTunes Back up to New iPhone 6s/6s Plus

Step 1. Set Up iPhone
To restore iPhone data from iTunes, you should make sure that the iTunes back up file that you are going to recover contains all the files you want. Then, power on your iPhone and you will be asked to set up your iPhone including the language, location and more. Follow the instructions and when the below screenshot appears, tap on "Restore from iTunes Back up".

Step 2. Restore Old Data to new iPhone 6s/6s Plus with iTunes
Launch iTunes 12 on your computer and connect iPhone 6s/6s Plus on your computer. Then, in the drop down list, choose the model of your iDevice to restore your iPhone from the back up. The last back up time will be shown below it. After choosing your iDevice, click "Continue" in the bottom right corner of iTunes.

After the procedure of backing up and restoring, you can view and use the old data on your new iPhone 6s/6s Plus. It also works for iPad, iPod touch and more. As long as you do back up for your iPhone frequently, there's no need to worry about losing the old data because old back ups can be restored to the new iPhone using iTunes with ease.
